Timeline of Fairytales and Nursery Rhymes
9th century:
"Cinderella" (China)
12th:
"London Bridge is Falling Down"
15th:
"Humpty Dumpty"
16th:
"Little Miss Muffet"
"*** in Boots" (Italy)
"Little Jack Horner"
"Hey Diddle Diddle" (Europe)
"Hark, Hark, The Dogs Do Bark"
I was searching for a time line of fairy tales and ran across this page. It lists the beginning (at least of popularity) that each fairy tale or nursery rhyme began. Its interesting to see which ones supposedly were created before others and also how many look familiar to me; I count a total of 34 and I recognize around 30 of them.
